Ukrainian Sunflower Seed Prices Fall Sharply: Procurement Index Drops to $440/t

The Ukrainian sunflower market showed a noticeable decline in prices this week. According to Spike Brokers, the procurement index for sunflower seeds intended for domestic processing fell by $110/t, reaching $440/t.

The decline is taking place amid changes in the Ukrainian oilseed market. Processors are gradually reducing their sunflower purchases as they prepare for the new season and assess prospects for the arrival of the new crop.

Export logistics are putting additional pressure on prices. The suspension of trading at deep-water ports is limiting export opportunities and weakening support for domestic procurement prices.

Previously, Ukrainian processors were purchasing sunflower seeds at approximately UAH 32,500–33,000/t CPT plant, although market activity remained low. Many processing companies are already waiting for the new crop and adjusting their procurement strategies accordingly.

Thus, sunflower seeds are facing double pressure — from limited demand among processors and problems with export logistics. Further price dynamics will largely depend on the pace of new-crop deliveries and the resumption of export operations.
